Workshop Series
Foundations of
Myofascial Release
A series of three one‑day, hands‑on classes for manual and movement therapists. Each class explores direct Myofascial Release through a region of the body, with an emphasis on the impact these interventions have on posture and function.
The series is taught through Nicholas's 4PR approach (Palpate, Plan, Position, Process, Re‑assess), so that every technique leaves the room with the reasoning attached.

How the series teaches
Posture screening first, hands second
Each class pairs practical myofascial technique with the assessment reasoning that should precede it. Common posture patterns are explored as they present within each body segment, and posture screening guides which structures are addressed and why.
The emphasis throughout is on developing practitioner confidence and trust in what you observe and feel: the working foundation this skill is built on.
The series
Three classes, three regions
1
The Ankle, Lower Extremity and Pelvis
Myofascial implications at the foot and ankle
Myofascial considerations above and below the knee
Femur to pelvis myofascial relationships
Fascial and ligamentous relationships at the pelvis
2
The Shoulder Girdle and Upper Extremity
Forearm, including the deep interosseous fascia
Upper extremity into axial fascial relationships
Scapula fascial relationships to the axial complexps
Upper extremity relationship to the scapula
3
The Axial Complex, including Head and Neck
Anterior and posterior torso myofascial relationships in flexion and extension
Core to lower extremity relationships
Upper extremity to axial relationships
Pelvis to axial relationships
Each class will
Apply Myofascial Release procedures to the relevant myofascial structures, through the 4PR approach
Explore the implications of tilt and shift as they relate to the region
Apply strategies to enhance function using Myofascial Release techniques
Examine the relevant fascial anatomy of the region
Examine common complaints, and what may be driving them
Use posture screening and reassessment to guide and check each intervention
Across the series you will learn to establish slow, sustained and responsive contact, recognise when to remain, adapt or withdraw, distinguish useful pressure from excessive force, develop tactile discrimination without overinterpreting what you feel, and use client feedback and reassessment to guide each intervention.
Two ways to bring this series to life
Attend as a practitioner
Register your interest and you will be contacted when the next series is scheduled. Classes can be taken as a full series or individually.
Host the series
Clinics, associations and training providers can host the series for their practitioners, with content adapted to the group's professional backgrounds.
