Overview

Seeing and doing, in the same day

This workshop introduces both the practical application and the theoretical considerations behind posture screening and myofascial intervention. Visual analysis guides what you assess. The 4PR approach guides what your hands then do.

Posture screening is treated as clinical reasoning rather than measurement. What you observe generates questions, those questions shape what you test, and what you test informs where the intervention begins.

Seeing comes first, and it is a clinical skill in its own right.

The day

Two halves, one reasoning process

Part one

Posture screening and visual analysis

Reading structure before touching it. Recognising relationships between segments, and understanding how what you see relates to what a client is presenting with.

Visual analysis is applied to case studies, so the observation connects directly to a treatment plan rather than sitting apart from it.

Part two

Myofascial intervention through 4PR

An introduction to Nicholas's 4PR approach: Palpate, Plan, Position, Process, Re‑assess. Palpation skills and myofascial technique are applied to structures identified during the screening.

Every technique carries its reasoning: what you observed, what you tested, and why this intervention answers it.

Participants will

Explore and demonstrate an introductory application of Myofascial Release and palpation skills to particular issues within the body

Apply introductory posture screening skills to specific case studies, developing an understanding of the role screening plays in setting up a treatment plan

Understand basic visual analysis concepts and their relevance in structuring an effective treatment plan

Understand and explore the significance of soft tissue and visual analysis theory in their own practice

INcluded

A class manual and reader

Hands‑on practice time throughout the day

Case studies worked through as a group

Where this leads

This workshop is the entry point. Practitioners who want to take the myofascial work further continue with Foundations of Myofascial Release, a series of three one‑day classes covering the body region by region.

For reasoning practice between workshops, the Case Review Clinic runs live on Zoom in a small practitioner group.
